The Second Life

Based on a short tale of the same name, by the Brazilian writer Machado de Assis, The Second Life narrates the journey of Joseph Maria through his many incarnations, and his past relationship with the "love of his life", Clemence, a widow who was unaware of the consequences of Maria's company.

The film was entirely shot on location, in New Hampshire and Rhode Island. Some of the locations including the Madame Sherri Castle Ruins, in Chesterfield - NH, and the Coggeshall Farm Museum in Bristol - RI.

The Second Life features an Original Score by Spencer Creaghan, with additional music by Travis Grubissi, performed by the Ostrich Orchestra from Cordoba, Argentina. It's Pimentel's 4th work for Manguetown Pictures, and it explores some of the visual and musical characteristics from the Golden Age of Hollywood and its classic melodramas.
